Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam was just announced at EA’s press conference. The first expansion pack to the hit FPS series will be released this winter. No further details were airdropped, but we’ll be sure to fight our way to getting more details soon.

Update: EA has revealed a few more details about Vietnam, which will be a multiplayer-only expansion, featuring four new maps. Additionally, the add-on will include “enhanced” persistence, as well as new weapons, vehicles, unlocks, awards and Achievements/Trophies. Pricing will be announced at a later date. Peep the trailer after the break.

Criterion’s Need for Speed has finally been revealed. EA’s E3 keynote ripped off the cover on Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, a reboot of the long-running racing series due to launch on November 16.

The introductory trailer promises a full campaign mode for both racer and cop and reveals a new feature called Autolog. This will track how you play and will support leaderboards for bragging rights between friends. There are also in-game power-ups (a spike strip for the cops is detailed), which can be utilized through the d-pad.

Update: EA just sent a press release revealing a November 19 release for Europe, as well as a Wii port in development at Exient.

It appears Konami’s leaked-pulled-and-then-leaked-again Castlevania: Harmony of Despair is very much a real thing. The rumored 2D multiplayer Castlevania game is part of the Microsoft’s returning Summer of Arcade promotion. The junior year’s games include:

  • Castlevania: Harmony of Despair
  • Hydro Thunder Hurricane
  • Lara Croft and the Guardian of the Light
  • Limbo
  • Monday Night Combat

The press release hasn’t mentioned any added bonuses for purchasing all of the games, but previous years promised a refund of 800 Microsoft Points ($10) with purchase of all five participating titles. It’s likely this year’s Summer of Arcade will do the same, but we’ll follow up.

The Xbox 360 Slim is making its way to England on July 16, 2010, at £199, and to Australia on July 1st, at $449. With price drops said to be coming within the next few days for existing models and also deals im sure which will be put together within the next few weeks. Some people are not to happy about the price point, but come release day, im sure they will all suck it up and buy :)

Microsoft announced the new $299 (US) console with built-in Wi-Fi and 250GB HDD at its E3 press conference earlier today.

We’re touching the new, slimmer Xbox 360 right now at the Microsoft E3 event, and we’ve got more details on the console and its hardware. The new Xbox has touch-sensitive on/off and eject buttons and built-in 802.11n Wi-Fi. There are ports for optical audio, A/V, HDMI, ethernet, and a custom port for the Kinect connection, as well as five USB ports. Only the standard A/V component cables come with the system (the same cables that come with the current model), so the HDMI cable is still separate. The power supply is all new and much smaller, and the console itself is “whisper quiet,” with just one large fan instead of two, placed specifically on the side of the console to improve acoustics. The system makes a little chime when you flip it on as well, and the disc drive still sounds the same when it spins up.

The hard drive is 250GB, and there’s a tab on the bottom that you can pull out to replace it if necessary. Transfer software is built into the system this time, so all you have to do is plug one end of the cable (available for $19.99) into the system, the other end into the hard drive, and then transfer away — no disc needed. The case is black and glossy, smaller and thinner than the white version. The console will come with one standard wireless controller, backwards compatible with previous versions of the hardware, of course. All of the accessories are black, including the chatpad. It feels lighter to hold than the original Xbox — not that you’d be moving it around much.

Bit of downtime recently for some reason. Had to restore and older backup to get going. Not to sure what happened but im sure i will find out. Never to mind. Gonna hit up all the news again very soon, that way the site is up to date and we can get things moving once again. Keep checking back, more stuff coming soon.

Nokia Ovi press event this Thursday, 'big news' teased

If you’re a Nokia lover who is currently jealous of all the Apple fans and their current state of delicious expectation, we’re happy to say that now you too can savor a little anticipation. Nokia is sending out invitations to an event this Thursday, January 21, indicating it will “share some big news with you.” Well, not with you exactly, but rather with us media-types, and you can be sure we will then pass it along posthaste.

But what will Nokia be sharing? We hate to spoil the fun, but we can’t imagine it’ll be anything other than the revamped Ovi Store the company has been talking up lately — that said, we’re always up for a surprise.
